This is an exciting opportunity to come and join the Sustainability Team in the NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital (GJUNH) on a permanent basis.
This role will be the Designated Officer for Waste Management, the professional lead responsible for ensuring Board-wide compliance with waste legislation and best practice, and for contributing to NHS Scotland’s waste and circular economy initiatives.
The post holder will ensure expenditure is within budget and all services are in compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, legal and Health & Safety requirements.
The post holder will be responsible for the management and development of a waste management strategy including policies and procedures supporting both clinical and non-clinical departments, to ensure an efficient and cost effective service in compliance with statutory requirements and good industry practice.
The role will lead procurement of all waste contracts to ensure compliant expenditure and a cost efficient delivery of service; including monitoring performance against relevant key performance indicators.
The post holder will be the professional source of advice and support to all Staff and to support engagement and delivery of waste training.
The post holder will be the waste management lead advisor for any innovation or similar type projects. And represent NHS Golden Jubilee at national level, communicating with other NHS Boards, external agencies and Scottish Government.
You will be required to use your own initiative, in managing your workload, while regularly changing priorities within a fast–paced environment.
