A full time secretary is required in the ENT Department to provide a comprehensive and quality medical secretarial service to consultants and their teams.
You will provide administrative support as well as be involved in the day to day work for the consultants. You should be enthusiastic, motivated and have good organisational and communication skills.
Excellent computer and audio-typing skills are also required.
Previous Secretarial experience is essential, medical terminology/knowledge would be an advantage.
Main duties of the job
To provide a comprehensive Medical Secretarial and Administration Service to the Department in strict accordance with Data Protection Act and Trust Confidentiality Guidelines, ensuring all work is processed in a timely, efficient way.
Provide a full and comprehensive Medical Secretarial Service, including timely audio typing of clinic letters, discharge summaries, letters, documents/presentations, taking and typing of minutes, agendas, and compilation of letters as required by the Consultant(s) and respective Team(s). This may involve correction of incorrect grammar and interpretation of different pronunciations and handwritten clinical notes of advanced medical terminology.

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
11. GCSE Grade C, or above/equivalent in English Language
12. RSA II Typing, or equivalent
13. Medical Terminology Course, or ability to demonstrate equivalent ability
Experience
Essential criteria
14. Experience of working within busy office environment
15. Experience of word processing
16. Experience of audiotyping
Desirable criteria
17. Experience of working within The NHS, General Practice or Private Sector
Skills & Knowledge

18. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
19. Good written and telephone communication skills, to enable liaison with staff at all levels
