Your Role
As a Principal Engineer, you will lead the Design Assurance work scope on the River-Class Destroyer Programme. Your mission? To manage the engineering lifecycle and technical risks while ensuring that our designs meet and maintain the desired performance.
Core Responsibilities
* Apply Systems Thinking to understand the broader problem space, guiding and educating engineering teams through the engineering lifecycle, especially during Design and Zonal Reviews.
* Lead the setting, management, and reporting of project maturity measures to assure stakeholders that performance standards are met.
* Develop and maintain engineering and assurance processes, adapting to technical developments and operational needs.
* Utilize your strong technical expertise to manage risks, ensure governance expectations are met, and deliver work packages on time and within budget. Mentor and coach engineers while promoting best practices in systems engineering.
Essential Skills
* A degree in a STEM-related discipline and Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional registration.
* Experience with key systems engineering principles and the engineering lifecycle.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills, with proven leadership experience in high-performing teams.
* Familiarity with warship or large complex product design processes and assurance activities is a plus.
About the River Class Destroyer (RCD) Design Assurance Team
Join our team within the Office of the Chief Engineer in the Systems Engineering group. This is your chance to take a holistic view of the platform and manage key engineering governance and assurance processes. You’ll collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the RCD is both well-designed and effectively delivered.
