We have secured a new framework with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water that will last up to eight years, enabling projects across the DCC region covering clean and wastewater treatment sites, below ground assets, reservoirs and nature‑based solutions. This role is part of that strategy and offers an opportunity to work on projects that significantly impact our environment and communities.
Senior Electrical Engineer – Responsibilities
* Preparing and reviewing electrical engineering designs for water treatment equipment on the client’s site, working with Motor Control Centres, LV distribution systems, cabling, instrumentation, industrial networks, PLCs and SCADA, with both new technology and legacy installations.
* Producing and reviewing technical specifications and procurement schedules, and reviewing supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
* Understanding, applying and contributing to design standards with a solid knowledge of client and industry standards.
* Appropriately challenging client specifications and presenting and defending solutions to complex problems.
* Identifying opportunities to improve delivery processes, including the development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions and digital tools.
* Acting as a technical checker on project documents and undertaking technical reviews for projects across teams.
* Managing the interfaces and integration of the design with other disciplines and producing documentation.
* Actively seeking input from other engineers, specialists, clients and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
* Collaborating closely with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design, construction and beyond.
* Supervising and mentoring graduates and engineers to develop their knowledge and skills.
* Positively engaging with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one‑team approach to supporting them in achieving their aims.
* Undertaking site reviews to ensure buildability of solutions and integration within existing systems.
Qualifications – What you’ll need
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Chartered or incorporated member of a professional institution such as ICE or IMechE, or equivalent experience.
* Experience with water, wastewater, non‑infrastructure or infrastructure projects.
* Experience of successfully delivering high‑quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.
* Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
* Methodical approach to problem solving.
* A proactive and pragmatic approach.
* Proficiency in delivering results within short timeframes, prioritising tasks and managing time efficiently.
* Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
