PositionOverview:
WeareexcitedtoannounceanopportunitywithacompanyyouthatistrulyoneyouwillspeakaboutforaSoftwareEngineeringManager,akeyroleinaclient’supcomingexpansionintoCentralScotland.Already established in the US, our client is looking to build a team in central Scotland. This role will be the keystone for that expansion.
Asourclientembarksonthisexcitingjourney,theyseekanexperiencedprofessionaltohelpshapetheirengineeringteam and code.ThishybridpositionwillinvolveclosecollaborationwiththeVPofEngineeringtooutlinethetechnicalroadmapwhileensuringthedelivery,execution,andqualityofsoftwareprojects.Thesuccessfulcandidatewillalsoplayasignificantroleinhands-onplatformdevelopment so a passion for hands-on coding is also needed.
Theidealcandidatewillpossessastrongbackgroundinnurturingsmallsoftwareteamswithinmission-drivenenvironments.Ourclientislookingforahands-onleaderwhoflourishesinearly-stageandgrowthcontexts—someonewhocanmentorandcoachengineers,establisheffectivedevelopmentpractices,andcontributetechnicallytoprojects.
KeyResponsibilities:
* Overseesprintplanning,backlogprioritization,anddeliveryprocessesthatemphasizespeed,quality,andsustainability.
* Providetechnicalcontributionsasnecessary,contributingtodesignreviews,architecturedecisions,andcodingefforts.
* Defineandimplementengineeringpractices,codingstandards,andqualitybenchmarkstailoredtoagrowingSaaScompany.
* Workcloselywithkeystakeholderstotranslatebusinessrequirementsintoeffectivetechnicalsolutions.
* Advocateforandestablishengineeringbestpractices,includingagilemethodologies,automatedtesting,andCI/CDprocesses.
* Fosteracollaborative,accountable,andinnovativeculturewithinthegrowingengineeringorganization.
Skills&Qualifications:
Required:
* 10+yearsofsoftwareengineeringexperience,withatleast2yearsinaleadershiprole(teamlead,techlead,ormanager).
* DemonstratedsuccessindeliveringSaaSapplications.
* APIsandcommunicationprotocols(REST,WebSockets,MQTT)
* CloudandDevOpstools(AWSservicessuchasLambda,ECS,S3,RDS,alongwithDocker,Terraform,GitHub,Jenkins,etc.)
* Comfortinworkingwithinsmallteams,effectivelybalancinghands-oncontributionswithmanagerialduties.
* Experiencedinagiledevelopment,CI/CD,andautomatedtestingmethodologies.
Preferred:
* Experienceinscalingteamswithinhigh-growthenvironments.
* FamiliaritywithAWScloudservicesanddistributed,cloud-nativearchitectures.
* Backgroundinmission-criticalapplications.
