The Role
As a Seating Project Engineer, you will be lead the design and development of seat structures, foams, trims, and mechanisms. Ensuring compliance with ergonomic, safety, and durability requirements.
Your responsibilities:
·Support CAD development, interface definition, and packaging studies.
·Own the delivery of seating systems to program milestones (e.g., VP, Job 1).
·Track engineering release schedules, cost targets, and weight metrics.
·Coordinate with suppliers to manage tooling, prototype builds, and part approvals.
·Support comfort assessments, occupant safety evaluations, and durability testing.
·Drive resolution of technical issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
·Benchmark competitor seating systems and contribute to future feature strategy.
·Interface with Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Studio Design teams.
·Chair seating attribute reviews and negotiate trade-offs across functions.
·Ensure alignment with global regulatory standards and customer expectations.
·Manage the cost and weight of the system as per vehicle target.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
·Expertise in seating system development or interior component engineering.
·Strong understanding of materials, mechanisms, and occupant comfort principles
·Proficiency in CAD tools (CATIA V5/ V6) and PLM systems.
