Accounts Administrator

Salary: £26,000 – £28,000 per annumLocation: Office-based, Sudbury

We are representing a long-established UK organisation operating nationally within a specialist manufacturing and distribution sector. From their Sudbury headquarters, we manage the full lifecycle of our products, from design and production through to customer support.

The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Administrator to join a small finance and administration team. This role would suit someone who enjoys routine, accuracy, and a varied workload, and who takes pride in keeping financial records organised and up to date.

The position is full-time and office-based, Monday to Friday, and requires reliable daily attendance at the company’s site.

Key Duties

Working closely with the finance function, your responsibilities will include:

• Updating and maintaining general and nominal ledgers• Investigating invoicing discrepancies, credit notes, and outstanding balances• Processing and reconciling staff credit card expenses and chasing missing documentation• Monitoring debtor balances and maintaining aged debtor reports• Assisting with audit preparation and year-end processes• Setting up and maintaining supplier accounts• Managing the fixed asset register• Carrying out routine internal checks and controls• Supporting customer payment processes, including direct debits and payment follow-ups• Taking card payments over the telephone when required• Providing cover for colleagues during periods of absence• Assisting the company accountant with ad hoc finance tasks

Skills and Experience

• AAT qualification or equivalent would be advantageous but is not essential• Practical understanding of core accounting processes• Confident using Microsoft Excel and Word• Highly organised with a methodical, accurate approach• Comfortable working with figures and resolving queries• Strong attention to detail• Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset• Previous experience in an accounts or finance support role is preferred
