We are seeking a dedicated and proactive IT Technician to join our IT team; in this key frontline role, you will ensure high‑quality IT provision that underpins learning, safeguarding and operational excellence.
Working under the guidance of senior IT staff and in close collaboration with colleagues across the school, you will provide responsive, hands‑on technical support to staff and students. You will play a vital role in maintaining IT systems, resolving day‑to‑day issues, supporting classroom technology, and contributing to the smooth delivery of IT services.

As an IT Technician, you will:
●Act as a first point of contact for IT support, responding to, logging and resolvinghardware and software incidents for staff and students.
●Support and maintain IT equipment including desktop and laptop devices, interactivedisplays, projectors and other classroom technologies.
●Carry out basic hardware diagnostics, repairs, installations and upgrades.
●Support network systems and infrastructure under the guidance of senior ITcolleagues, including switches, patching and configuration changes.
●Assist with system upgrades, audits and IT improvement projects, contributing todigital innovation across the academy and Trust.
● Provide clear advice, guidance and informal training to users, adapting your communication style to suit varying technical ability.
● Supervise, coach or mentor less experienced team members where appropriate.
● Work closely with colleagues, sharing best practice and helping deliver consistent, high‑quality IT services.
● Support safeguarding by monitoring appropriate use of IT systems and escalating concerns in line with Trust procedures.
About you:
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about technology and motivated by helping others succeed.
You will have:
● Good literacy and numeracy skills (including GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above, or equivalent)
● Knowledge of Windows 11 installation and configuration, along with desktop and laptop hardware maintenance.
● Experience working within an IT support or technical services environment.
● Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to diagnose issues and adapt solutions to users' needs.
● Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
● The ability to manage a busy workload and respond flexibly to planned and ad‑hoc requests.
● An understanding of IT security, data protection and safeguarding responsibilities, particularly within an education setting.
● A willingness to learn new skills

Main Responsibilities of the Job:
Helpdesk Tickets
● Triage all incoming helpdesk tickets and assign to the appropriate person
Cyber Security
● Educating staff on best practice for passwords, 2 factor authentication and device habits
IT Suites
● Ensuring each suite / classroom has enough physical computer units to satisfy teaching groups.
● Adapting and Maintaining Group Policy.
● Overseeing the deployment of Anti-Virus and intervening with any threats.
● Maintaining peripherals.
Classroom IT Equipment
● Maintaining Projectors, Apple TVs, Microsoft Casts, as well as other TVs.
● Support for staff and students in the classroom when requested.
Assisting Students
● Assisting students with accounts/passwords.
● Assisting students with technical problems.
● Escalating students' requests to the helpdesk when necessary.
Digital Signage
● Ensuring the digital signage screens across the site are functional.
● Moving the Mobile DSG screen for events and functions.
Laptops
● Actively preparing new and maintaining existing laptops, as well as repurposing them.
● Replacing/Ordering defunct batteries as well as chargers for laptops.
● Replacing faulty hardware on laptops such as charger ports / replacement screens
● Regularly maintaining the helpdesk's internal asset records relating to laptops and updating when making changes to hostname, installed software or who the laptop is assigned to.
● Checking Anti Virus and Malwarebytes and intervening with any threats or issues.
● Ensuring Laptops are Encrypted with bitlocker.
Printing
● Installing Papercut on all computers / laptops that require printing, ensuring they are accounted for in billing for each department.
● Supporting the Print Server in event of failure.
● Intervening with printer faults and escalating with Photocopier provider for hardware damage or an event we can't resolve ourselves.
● Aiding in the intermittent setup of exam printers and providing emergency support for technical issues during or after exams.
● Management of network printers.
● Changing toners / waste toner / consumables in photocopiers.
Halls
● Providing support in Main Hall, Hall 2, Sports Hall, Chapel and Drama Studio for any presentation setup requirements.
iPads
● Assisting the iPad technician during times of high-demand or issues that cannot be resolved independently.
DT Equipment
● Ensure the continued functionality of the 3D printers.
● Ensure the continued functionality of existing laser cutting equipment.
Servers
● Supporting all servers across site.
● Assist in the Decommission / Destruction of servers who are end-of-life and preserve critical configuration or school data for archival purposes.
Network Infrastructure / Core Switching Equipment
● Maintain VLAN configurations. Ensure switch ports are configured to the appropriate VLAN.
● Assisting with maintaining the WiFi network.
● Maintain cable management in network cabs.
