Job Description

SEN/Autism Specialist Teacher
* Annual Salary: Paid to scale
* Location: London
* Job Type: Full-time

Reed Education are working with a Primary School in Sutton who have a resource base and are seeking an enthusiastic SEN/Autism Specialist Teacher to join their base. The successful candidate will motivate, challenge, support, and inspire our students, managing the classroom environment and supporting children in implementing the curriculum through assessment, recording, and reporting.

Day-to-day of the role:
* Teach a class of approximately 6-10 children with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP) for a primary need of ASD, tailoring educational activities to their needs, including setting and marking work.
* Formulate clear views of each child's capabilities, set challenging yet achievable targets, and monitor and review their performance targets throughout the year.
* Implement and deliver a broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum for students and support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
* Produce medium- and short-term plans of work and contribute to the overall curriculum planning of the ASD base.
* Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students, developing and implementing individual outcomes for each child including EHCP outcomes.
* Facilitate and encourage a learning experience that allows students to accelerate their learning through effective management of support staff in the class.
* Maintain discipline in accordance with school procedures and encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work, and home learning.
* Assess, record, and report on the attendance, progress, development, and attainment of students.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Educated to degree level or equivalent, or evidence of working towards a similar level qualification in a relevant field.
* Experience of teaching children with autism and leading and managing a class team.
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Knowledge of ASD learning programmes such as Attention Autism and experience with pre-verbal children with autism.
* Outstanding organisational skills, excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, and proficiency in using technology in teaching (e.g., interactive whiteboard, Google Workspace).
* Committed to the safeguarding of children.
