Job Purpose
Lawyer required to assist a partner in undertaking residential conveyancing principally within the retirement living sector. This is a fast-paced market where time is usually of the essence; therefore, excellent communication and time management skills are crucial.
Responsibilities
* Operate as an effective member of the Brighton Real Estate Group, specialising in all elements of non-contentious residential property including purchases and disposals (often involving retirement living properties and related property transactions).
* Be responsible under supervision for own caseload and own fee targets; work toward targets defined by the Group Head/Head of Department.
Qualifications and Experience
* Previous residential property experience.
* Knowledge of property legislation, including landlord and tenant and relevant case law.
* Ability to manage time effectively to meet client and internal deadlines.
* Strong client care skills with the ability to understand clients’ objectives and work with a range of clients.
* Team player with the ability to support other solicitors and Partners.
* Competent IT skills including Outlook, Word, Digital Dictation and time-recording systems; confident Excel skills.
* Ability to draft documentation with attention to detail and to communicate legal information clearly to clients in writing, on the phone and in meetings.
* Understanding of the firm’s strategy and vision.
Financial and Client Care
* Achieve own key financial targets, including fees and billing, and maintain accurate data in the firm’s case management and financial systems.
* Monitor performance on live files, openings, closures, and time recording; manage matters to budget and deadlines.
* Deliver high standards of client care to encourage repeat business and referrals.
Business Development and Risk
* Assist with marketing and business development activities, including writing for e-newsletters and participating in seminars.
* Comply with Anti-Money Laundering, FSMA policies, maintain CQS accreditation, and follow firm risk management procedures.
* Attend regular group meetings to review current work and workloads.
