In your role as a Kitchen Assistant at HC-One, you'll value one thing above all: kindness. It carries across every aspect of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist care homes. Every person who works here understands that our Residents are people just like them with their own stories to tell. Joining HC-One offers a wonderful opportunity to give back to those people.
Please note this is a 33-hour per week position, requiring flexibility for weekends due to the nature of care.
As a Kitchen Assistant, your responsibilities include helping to prepare and serve nutritious, healthy meals that our residents will love. You'll uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene. Whether maintaining food supplies, monitoring fridge/freezer temperatures, training new starters, or cleaning spills, your focus will always be on Resident wellbeing.
We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant with some kitchen experience. Ideally, you will have an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or be willing to study for one. Good record keeping and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to follow recipes. When communicating with Residents or colleagues, kindness and consideration are paramount.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. You should be able to recognize signs of abuse, harm, or neglect and know how to respond. All staff are required to attend safeguarding training appropriate to their role and to undertake additional training as needed. You should also be able to seek advice and report concerns, escalating issues if necessary.
We provide full training, offering a great opportunity to learn new skills. In return, you'll enjoy a range of benefits supporting your physical and psychological well-being, including:
* Part-time 20 hours
* Hourly rate subject to experience and qualifications
* Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG
* Free uniform
* A nutritious meal during shifts of eight hours or more
* Company pension scheme
* 28 days annual leave including bank holidays
* Group life assurance
* Wagestream - flexible access to pay and financial wellbeing support
* Learning and development opportunities, including qualifications
* GP online service for you and your children under 16
* Learning from experienced colleagues within a supportive team
* Colleague discounts at over 1600 high street stores
* Employee Assistance Programme providing 24/7 support
* Recognition schemes such as 'Kindness in Care' and Long Service Awards
* Refer a Friend scheme earning up to £1000 per referral
We are committed to inclusive working practices, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds, and ensuring a smooth onboarding process from offer to start date.
