Mechanical Technician. Contract: Government. Location: East Kilbride, G75 8EA. Hours of work: 40. Contract Type: Permanent.
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to deliver high-quality mechanical and building services maintenance within a fast-paced, complex operational environment. This role is central to ensuring the reliability, safety and efficiency of mechanical systems across the client’s property, supporting a consistently world-class maintenance service for stakeholders.
Responsibilities
* Perform scheduled inspections, preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment in line with relevant codes, diagrams and manufacturer instructions.
* Undertake reactive repairs and troubleshooting to diagnose faults and restore systems to full operation.
* Observe mechanical systems in operation to identify failures or causes of malfunction, dismantling equipment when required.
* Inspect mechanical parts for calibration, dimensional accuracy and compliance with specification.
* Test and calibrate equipment using appropriate test tools and precision measuring instruments.
* Plan and lay out work assignments, determining suitable methods, techniques and materials.
* Escort contractors and support safe working practices across the site.
* Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety procedures, including risk assessments and method statements, at all times.
Qualifications
* Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Mechanical Engineering or City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering 1788 (previous editions considered).
* Plumbing experience.
* Proven experience in mechanical building services maintenance including fault-finding, installation, inspection and testing.
* Experience delivering both reactive and PPM maintenance within commercial properties.
* Previous exposure to FM or building services environments.
* Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety procedures and documentation.
