Overview
Neway International are seeking a Social Worker - Referral & Assessment to join our client Achieving for Children. Achieving for Children is a not-for-profit social enterprise delivering high-quality children's services across Kingston and Richmond. Their Referral & Assessment Teams sit within the Identification and Assessment division, working directly with children and families at the point of referral to ensure timely, safe and effective interventions.
As a Social Worker within the Referral & Assessment Team, you will manage new referrals, undertake Child in Need and Child Protection assessments, lead strategy discussions, contribute to Initial Child Protection Conferences, and progress cases into pre-proceedings or court where required. You will work directly with families during periods of crisis, preventing escalation and ensuring children's safety and wellbeing remain central to all decision-making.
You will receive reflective supervision, work within the Signs of Safety framework, and be supported with digital tools to work in an agile and child-focused way.
Responsibilities
* Undertake child protection investigations, assessments of need, and risk analysis.
* Lead on safety planning, contingency planning, and care planning.
* Prepare high-quality reports, statements, and assessments for court and multi-agency meetings.
* Manage an allocated caseload, ensuring statutory timescales are met.
* Chair complex meetings and contribute to multi-agency decision-making.
* Maintain accurate case records and written updates in line with local policy.
* Work collaboratively with children, families, and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
Qualifications
* Degree in Social Work and completion of ASYE.
* Active Social Work England registration.
* Strong experience in statutory children's social care, including CP, CIN, and court work.
* Skilled in assessment, risk management, and planning packages of care.
* Confident in direct work with children and families, including crisis intervention.
* Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills.
* Ability to work flexibly, collaboratively, and under pressure.
