Join to apply for the Primary Teacher role at Compass Community

Compass Community School, Redwood Park School, Milton Keynes — a brand new independent day school opening with a 90-place capacity for pupils aged 7–19. We provide extensive therapeutic training and support for staff as part of a trauma and attachment-informed approach.

Overview

Our children come from diverse backgrounds and may have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and often additional SEND such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. Our approach places the child at the centre of decision-making, bringing together education and therapy professionals, parents/carers, local authority teams and students to secure outstanding outcomes.

The Role

We are all principally teachers of children before teachers of subjects. Central to this role is knowing the child, building professional, nurturing and positive relationships, and motivating students.

The successful candidate will have the ability/willingness to teach Maths and/or English to GCSE level. Regardless of accreditation, we maintain high aspirations for our children and recognise the importance of qualifications to provide life chances and opportunities.

Compass Community School teachers inspire children, creating a sense of awe and making subjects and lessons real and relevant. They plan exciting and engaging learning opportunities that challenge students, whether working on basics or nurturing a special talent or passion for the subject.

Our children require very special teachers who can manage complex and challenging behaviours. They will need attentive, consistent, flexible, non-judgemental communication and approaches.

We invite teachers to participate in decision-making that drives our school, contributes to outcomes for children, and helps shape both the academic curriculum and extracurricular opportunities.
