Job Description
Our Washington site offers an exciting opportunity for a Transport Supervisor on a full‑time permanent basis. The role involves leading the night traffic operations and driver team, ensuring KPIs and SLAs are met, managing vehicle utilisation, and providing clear instructions to drivers.
Salary: £36,000 – £38,100 per annum.
Shift: 4 on 4 off, 6 pm – 6 am.
Key Duties of a Transport Supervisor
* Ensure shift runs at optimal cost efficiency, including correct driver, agency and 3rd‑party usage.
* Co‑coach Transport Planners and Operators to make the right decisions, avoiding conflict and cost.
* Achieve on‑time dispatch performance.
* Support driver training and ensure availability for all development activities.
* Improve depot cost effectiveness by removing barriers.
* Investigate accidents/incidents and implement appropriate action plans.
* Lead conflict resolution across the shift, ensuring fair processes and outcomes.
* Maintain and update fleet availability and trailer service information.
* Communicate effectively internally and externally.
* Manage motor‑collision and personal‑injury packs.
Qualifications
* Good national geographical knowledge.
* Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
* Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Attention to detail.
* Teamworking ability.
* Knowledge of tachograph and driving rules and regulations.
* Transport experience in an FMCG environment preferred.
