About the role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Research Associate to join our internationally recognised Cardiovascular Proteomics Research Group, led by Professor Manuel Mayr, contributing to cutting-edge research in biomedical mass spectrometry and translational cardiovascular science.
You will play a central role in international collaborative projects harnessing proteomics data from clinical cohorts, including our recent Foundation Leducq Transatlantic Network grant, ALIGN-FMD: Demystifying Fibromuscular Dysplasia - a global consortium co-led by leading vascular biologists from the USA and Australia, supported by an $8.5 M award.
The successful candidate will bring a strong background in the biological sciences and hands-on expertise in proteomics, coupled with a keen interest in applying proteomic insights to translational research.
What you would be doing
The successful candidate will conduct high-quality research using proteomics tools to study cardiovascular diseases, in line with the department's research strategy. You will manage project activities, contribute to publications, and present findings at meetings and conferences. The role involves maintaining proteomics equipment, supporting colleagues with experiments, and fostering collaboration within and beyond the group.
What we are looking for
* The ideal candidate will hold a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant biological discipline such as molecular or cellular biology, with demonstrated experience in functional and molecular analysis techniques and hands-on experience in proteomics workflows, particularly in post-translational modification analysis.
* Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range £43,863 - £47,223 per annum
* A solid understanding of cardiovascular biology and bioinformatic methods as well as the ability to critically review scientific literature are essential.
* A track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team are expected.
