Freightliner is the UK's largest maritime intermodal logistics operator, transporting containers from all major deep-sea ports to our national network of inland terminals. We are also a leading operator in the UK Heavy Haul rail freight market. Freightliner operates across Europe, offering seamless Intermodal and Heavy Haul rail freight services connecting European countries and the UK.

In the UK, the Freightliner Group operates under several legal entities, including Freightliner Group Ltd, Freightliner Heavy Haul Ltd, Freightliner Ltd, Pentalver Transport Ltd, and Pentalver Cannock Ltd.

Purpose of the Role:

* Responsible for winning new business and achieving volume and revenue targets.
* Developing a strong new business pipeline to ensure sufficient active prospects to meet targets.

Main duties and responsibilities:

* Develop and execute a sales plan to meet and exceed volume and revenue budgets.
* Proactively develop a pipeline of new business prospects to generate enough opportunities within the financial year.
* Follow and refine the sales process to increase win rates.
* Ensure all pricing is profitable and collaborate with the commercial team for clarity and maximization.
* Identify market demand gaps and communicate with the commercial team to address them.
* Utilize CRM to capture data and produce KPIs to measure effectiveness.
* Build strong relationships with operational teams to ensure excellent customer service.
* Communicate new business prospects to operational teams to assess capability and capacity.
* Represent G&W at relevant external events.

Key job requirements:

* Degree level education or equivalent.
* Experience in new business development, ideally within transport or supply chain industries.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* Financial literacy with experience in pricing optimization.
* Ability to respond to commercial challenges flexibly.
* Effective prospect engagement and communication skills.
* Experience working with commercial and operational teams to ensure collaboration.
* Knowledge of best practice sales processes.
