About QBE

At QBE, we get to the heart of what matters for our customers. And we do it all with a human touch.

We’re an international insurer with more than 13,000 people working across 26 countries – which means we’re big enough for your ambitions, yet small enough for you to make a real impact. It’s an exciting time. We’re building momentum towards our vision to become the most consistent and innovative risk partner.

What if you could have a positive impact – at work and in the world? As part of the QBE team, you’ll get to spend every day working with people who are passionate, talented and kind.

Having the right to work in the UK is a requirement for this role. QBE may consider sponsorship at its discretion.

The opportunity

This role sits at the heart of shaping our capital strategy, giving you the chance to influence major group-wide decisions and ensure we’re positioned for long term strength and success. You’ll lead on high impact capital planning, regulatory activities, and market facing initiatives while working closely with senior stakeholders across the business. If you’re looking for a role where strategic thinking, problem solving and real organisational impact collide - this is it.

Capital Planning & Regulatory Support

* Support the production of capital and remittance plans to ensure effective deployment and repatriation of capital across the group.
* Prepare dividend proposals and related governance documentation.
* Deliver updates to the Capital Allocation Framework (CAF) and capital recovery plans in line with regulatory expectations.
* Contribute to Solvent Exit Analysis and Resolution Planning activities.

Lloyd’s & Market-Facing Activities

* Manage activities relating to Lloyd’s distribution, FAL refinancing, and open year distribution, including coordination with Group Treasury, banks and Lloyd’s.
* Support Tier 2 capital applications, working closely with the legal team to ensure compliant and timely submissions.

Strategic Capital Management

* Support the development of capital and platform strategy, ensuring alignment with broader group objectives.
* Provide ad hoc capital management input into strategic initiatives and legacy transactions (e.g., Loss Portfolio Transfers, Adverse Development Covers).
* Lead or contribute to commutations strategy and execution.
* Conduct solvency benchmarking to inform decision making and competitive positioning.

Stakeholder & Cross Functional Engagement

* Act as a key liaison with Group stakeholders on group wide initiatives, ensuring clear communication and alignment across teams.

About You

* Qualified actuary or accountant.
* Strong knowledge of Solvency II, including technical provisions and capital requirements.
* Broad understanding of actuarial concepts across reserving and capital modelling.
* General knowledge of accounting principles and multiple accounting bases (e.g., IFRS, UK GAAP).
* Familiarity with the Lloyd’s market and its capital framework.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage senior leaders and cross functional teams.
* Highly structured approach to managing complex tasks involving multiple stakeholders.
* Strong analytical and problem solving abilities, with attention to detail and sound judgement.
* Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear presentations.
* Good commercial awareness and understanding of the broader business and market environment.

Benefits

* 30 days holiday a year with the option to buy up to 2 additional days.
* Flexible working - balancing work and life is important so our flexible working opportunities are open to all, this can include part-time, job share and compressed hours.
* Pension – you are automatically enrolled into the QBE pension plan, which entitles you to receive employer contributions of 10% of your basic salary.
* Private medical insurance – we fund fully comprehensive private medical cover for you and all the family.
* Family friendly policies – we offer 26 weeks leave at full pay regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation or how you become a parent.
* Short term remote work abroad - you can request up to 20 days per year to work remotely from certain locations abroad.
* Sustainable investing - we believe sustainable integration is important for long term financial, environmental, and social outcomes. Our pension strategy supports our net-zero goal to achieve year-on-year reductions in carbon footprint, by investing more in green businesses than the broader market, so your savings are looking after the planet's future, as well as your own.
* Cycle-to-Work – benefit from regular exercise whilst making your commute greener and cheaper, select and bike and/or accessories up to the value of £5,000.
