Are you a Band 6 Registered Nurse with experience and expertise in the care and management of patients in an Emergency department setting.
We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic role model who has a love of teaching, supporting and developing nurses to reach their potential.
This role would be a really good opportunity for anyone interested in a role in education or practice development in the future as we are looking for someone to work as clinical educator to work along side the practice development team.
This role is offered as a secondment for 6 months.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will need to have a passion for teaching, assessing and supporting in the clinical environment within the emergency department .
During the two weeks as a clinical educator you will work Monday - Friday during the two weeks of clinical you will continue with clinical pattern of hour shifts including days nights and weekends.
You will be involved in all aspects of nurse training including:
1. Create a climate of research awareness to encourage evidence-based practice. To encourage and support staff and students with their skills & knowledge around practice and relevant practice assessments undertaken, supporting their progress.
2. supporting with the delivering formal & informal teaching to the Nurse Teams
3. Working clinically alongside the emergency department junior nurses - supporting with competencies and upskilling to each area.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a level of motivation and commitment to our nurses who will all be at different stages and you are required to generally be there for them at any stage.
The role requires you to have excellent communication skills and the ability to work under your own initiative. Data capture and gathering will be part of the role.

Duties and Responsibilities
Education/Staff Development
To identify training and development needs of staff within the area in
accordance with local and national policies.
Support staff in the provision of regular local and relevant teaching and
training sessions including provision of ‘buddied’ clinical time to facilitate on the job learning.
To be a source of highly specialist clinical and educational knowledge
To act as an advocate for patients within the department, to ensure a
patient orientated approach to the delivery of care and to meet standards
within the NHS Plan and other relevant guidelines.
To ensure that patients’ receive high quality clinical care and a good
patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and
doctrines.
Recognise and avoid situations that may be detrimental to the health and
wellbeing of the individuals.
The post holder will also be required to deliver training as required
Tailor a programme of orientation for new staff members and arrange an
ongoing programme of training for qualified and unqualified staff and
overseas nurses requiring adaptation in the care and management of
patients within the speciality.
Provide support to staff completing clinical and legal nursing documents to ensure they are completed accurately and legibly and that their relevance is understood and confidentiality maintained in accordance with Trust policy and NMC guidelines.
Works with Practice development team Sister/Charge Nurse to contribute to standard setting for
nursing practice
Participates in the training of staff to monitor the quality of care delivered
using clinical standards and takes necessary action to ensure excellence in
nursing practice. Bases standards upon relevant research where possible.
Participates in Individual Performance Review of staff when appropriate
using the Scope of Professional Practice.
Develop and implement training programmes for nurses to expand their
clinical skills in accordance with the Trust’s standards
Professional Responsibilities
To be accountable for care given and comply with the NMC Code of
Conduct, working within the framework of the UKCC’s scope of
professional practice.
To ensure compliance and implementation of Trust policies and
procedures, relevant legislation, Nursing and Midwifery strategy and
Clinical Governance standards are understood and practised by staff. Acts
according to the Health & Safety Act and manual handling practice
ensuring that all training of staff is documented.
Practises in accordance with the professional direction as stipulated in the
Trust’s Nursing & Midwifery strategy.
To take personal responsibility for promoting a safe environment and safe
patient care by identifying areas of risk and following the Incident, Serious
Incident and Near Misses reporting procedure.
Have a visible presence within the clinical setting.
Is responsible for own professional development and an awareness of
clinical educational developments. Agrees own personal, professional and
service objectives according to Individual Performance Review with
Manager.
Management duties
Communicates with staff in all areas of the Trust
Act all times to ensure that staff, practise Trust and Unit policies and
procedures.
Responsible for monitoring performance against competency requirements
Facilitate the sharing of best practice both within the Trust and externally.
Education/ Qualifications:
RN1/ RN2/ RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register. To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality. 1st Degree. Specialist professional knowledge of mentorship, education and development practice. Evidence of continuous personal, professional and academic development.
Previous experience:
Significant post registration experience within an emergency department setting. Deliver training sessions / programmes. Experience of mentoring/ supervising/ assessing nurses and students in practice. Experience of managing a team. Experience of involvement in educational initiatives.
