Qualified Support Worker
Location: Telford, Shropshire
Service: Residential Children's / Young Adults Care
Salary: Competitive (dependent on qualifications and experience)
Contract: Full-time / Part-time / Flexible rota
Qualification Required: Level 3 Diploma in Residential childcare (or equivalent approved by Ofquel)
Salary – Up to £32000 based on experience
£1,000 Bonus for Qualified Support Workers
* £500 sign-up bonus paid after successful completion of induction
* £500 retention bonus paid after successful completion of probation
(Paid via payroll and subject to tax and terms & conditions)
Role Overview
As a Qualified Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, child-centred care within a nurturing residential environment. You will support children and young people with emotional, behavioural and practical needs, helping them to feel safe, valued, and empowered to achieve positive outcomes.
You will work as part of a supportive, experienced team committed to delivering outstanding care in line with Children's Homes Regulations and Ofsted standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide consistent, high-quality care and support tailored to each child or young person
· Act as a positive role model, promoting emotional wellbeing, independence, and resilience
· Implement and follow individual care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies
· Support children with daily routines, education, appointments and activities
· Maintain accurate and timely records, reports and daily logs
· Safeguard children at all times and follow safeguarding procedures and reporting lines
· Build positive professional relationships with colleagues, families, schools and external professionals
· Participate in shift handovers, supervisions, training and team meetings
· Promote a safe, structured, and nurturing home environment
What We're Looking For
Essential:
· Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care/ Residential Childcare
· Experience working in a children's residential care setting
· A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
· Strong communication and teamwork skills
· Ability to work a rota including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins
· Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable:
· Experience with trauma-informed care or challenging behaviour
· Medication administration training
· Key-working experience
