Grade 13 (Points 35–38) (Actual salary range £44,872 - £50,186 depending on continuation service)

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional School Business Manager to join our leadership team and play a key role in shaping the future of our school.
The Role
This is a senior leadership position where you will act as the school’s Chief Financial Officer, leading on finance, human resources, and business operations. You will work closely with the Headteacher, leadership team and governors to ensure the effective, compliant and strategic use of resources in support of our educational priorities.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leading all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, statutory returns and audit compliance
2. Providing high-quality financial advice and strategic support to the Headteacher and governing body
3. Managing all HR functions, including recruitment, payroll, staff wellbeing, absence management and compliance
4. Ensuring robust systems, processes and internal controls across the school
5. Overseeing procurement and ensuring value for money
6. Supporting the strategic leadership and long-term development of the school
7. Acting as Company Secretary and ensuring governance compliance
About You
We are looking for a candidate who:
8. Has significant experience in financial management, budgeting and strategic planning
9. Has strong knowledge of HR processes, employment legislation and safer recruitment
10. Demonstrates excellent organisational, analytical and ICT skills
11. Is able to build effective relationships with staff, governors and external partners
12. Has the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
13. Demonstrates integrity, professionalism and a commitment to confidentiality
14. Shares our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
15. Experience in a school or academy setting is desirable but not essential for the right candidate with strong transferable skills.
