Responsible to: Head Occupational Therapist (Line manager).
Hours: 40 hours per week

Service Line: Mental Health Adults - High dependency inpatient rehabilitation service
Site Overview
Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital is a 39-bed hospital for men with complex needs requiring emergency mental health support or high dependency rehabilitative care. The environment promotes mental health recovery, focusing on space, privacy, and dignity. A willingness to learn new skills and a passion for working with patients with complex needs are essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver planned activities under the supervision of the ward Occupational Therapist (OT) and Multidisciplinary Team.
* Assist the OT with daily duties and departmental operations.
* Undertake assessment and intervention programmes delegated by a senior OT, based on appropriate experience/knowledge.
* Contribute ideas and facilitate events and activities safely, supporting patients to structure their time meaningfully.
* Participate in delivering one-to-one and group interventions.
* Implement individual care plans during activity sessions, considering patients' interests to promote choice and independence.
Occupational Therapy Directorate
Led by our occupational therapy directors, we support over 150 Occupational Therapists and 300 OT support staff. Our team collaborates across services, with opportunities for involvement in service development and participation in specialist interest groups.
Each service line is led by a clinical lead OT to develop evidence-based practices and pathways.
We promote staff voice in service model development, leveraging the expertise of our clinical lead OT.
Training & Development
Our robust induction includes shadowing, discussions, and support to help you develop into your role. The OT Assistant development programme in your first year consolidates core skills. Regular virtual Q&A sessions with our clinical lead OT and networking opportunities are also available.
