Brief Description
You’ll help keep our nation moving every day by supporting essential maintenance of the rail network. As a technician, you'll work outdoors in a team, ensuring safety and smooth operation of the railway. No prior rail experience is necessary; we provide comprehensive training to develop your skills and ensure safe working practices.
About The Role
You’ll specialize in maintaining, inspecting, and repairing the track network (P-Way). This manual role involves working with rails, sleepers, ballast, drainage, and structures, often in challenging conditions and near moving trains. Safety, teamwork, and adherence to rules are critical.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and motivate your team, ensuring safety and efficiency.
* Maintain and repair track components.
* Work safely in all weather conditions, following safety protocols.
* Transport equipment and work across challenging terrains.
* Challenge unsafe practices and promote safety standards.
Skills and Qualifications
* Leadership and motivation skills.

* Technical knowledge of inspection, faulting, and maintenance techniques.
* Commitment to safety and safe working behaviors.
* Problem-solving skills.
* Willingness to learn and develop.
* Relevant qualification (NVQ Level 1 or 2) or equivalent experience.

* Shift work including days, nights, and weekends.
* Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
* Pre-employment checks including drug testing, medical, and BPSS.
* Driving license (category B) required.
* Within 60 minutes of the location.
