Full-Time Autism Specialist (1:1 Support)
Location: Vale of Glamorgan – Additional Needs Hub (Secondary School)
Contract: Full Academic Year (September 2025 – July 2026)
Working Hours: Full-Time (Monday to Friday, 08:10am-15:10pm, Term Time Only)

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the life of a young person with Autism? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Specialist to join the team in a supportive and inclusive secondary school environment from September 2025.

About the Role:

You will work 1:1 with a pupil with Autism aged 11-16 within an Additional Needs Hub, supporting them through their educational journey and personal development over the academic year. The role is centred around promoting lifeskills, regulating emotions, and helping the pupil stay engaged with schoolwork and integrated in classroom learning.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide individualised support during lessons, focusing on both academic and life skills development.
* Assist with emotional regulation and promote a positive, stable environment.
* Work on individual reports and tailored learning goals in line with the pupil’s EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan).
* Maintain regular communication and collaboration with class teachers, SENDCo, and senior staff.
* Encourage independence and social development through structured routines and positive reinforcement.
* Monitor progress and contribute to regular reviews and support plans.

Requirements:

* Proven experience working with children with Autism and/or additional needs (in an educational or care setting).
* Strong understanding of neurodiversity, sensory regulation, and emotional wellbeing.
* Ability to maintain patience, empathy, and professional boundaries at all times.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Team player who can adapt to the dynamic needs of both the pupil and the school environment.

Desirable:

* Relevant qualifications in education, SEN, or Autism awareness/support.
* Experience working within a secondary school setting.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
