Our client is a global packaging development company who offer innovative, premium packaging solutions to luxury brands predominantly in the health & beauty, spirits, homeware, candles, watches and fine fragrance markets.
They are currently recruiting for a proactive and experienced Packaging Regulatory Compliance Manager to lead and manage global regulatory compliance across their packaging supply chain. This role will ensure the business operates in line with evolving international regulations, responsible sourcing practices and sustainability requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external compliance-related enquiries, including regulatory inspections
2. Manage company certifications, ensuring suppliers are added to the system, SAQs are completed, and any non-conformances (NCRs) are mapped and resolved
3. Work with internal teams and third-party partners to arrange and coordinate global supplier audits where required
4. Support Procurement and Sales teams by managing supplier and company certification mapping for clients globally, including monitoring certification expiry dates
5. Monitor supplier performance through audits, assessments and corrective action plans to ensure ongoing compliance
6. Collaborate with Procurement, Legal, and ESG teams to ensure responsible procurement and sustainable sourcing practices across the supply chain
7. Act as the primary point of contact for the organisation's forest certification scheme across the UK and Ireland
8. Work with global teams to apply SOPs & ways of working for new/emerging regulations
9. Provide regulatory training and awareness sessions for internal and external stakeholders and deliver regular updates to Sales, Product Development and ESG teams on regulatory changes
10. Maintain responsibility as the primary contact for managing and maintaining key customer supplier approval lists
11. Conduct supply chain risk assessments with global teams to identify compliance gaps or high-risk areas and implement mitigation strategies
12. Identify potential compliance risks and recommend practical solutions to ensure ongoing regulatory alignment
13. Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance practices are being followed in accordance with company SOPs
14. Drive continuous improvement by monitoring upcoming legislation and ensuring the organisation remains ahead of regulatory developments
15. Support the development and updating of internal compliance policies in collaboration with relevant departments
16. Support ESG initiatives, including sustainability data collection for the company's sustainability reporting platform
17. Implement and maintain the Global Business Continuity Plan
Requirements:
18. Minimum 5-8 years' experience in regulatory compliance within packaging, FMCG, manufacturing, or related industries
19. Strong knowledge of global regulatory frameworks and certifications including REACH Regulation, UK Plastic Packaging Tax, and sustainability initiatives linked to the European Green Deal
20. Experience managing supplier compliance processes, including certification tracking, audits and corrective action plans
21. Good understanding of responsible procurement, recyclability, circular economy principles and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes
22. Experience writing, updating and implementing compliance policies relating to supplier sourcing, material usage and sustainability reporting
23. Ability to deliver regulatory training and communicate compliance requirements clearly to both internal teams and suppliers
24. Strong analytical and data interpretation skills to assess supplier risk, compliance gaps and sustainability performance
25. Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Procurement, Sales, Legal, ESG teams and global suppliers
26. Ability to manage multiple global projects at once in a lean and fast-moving environment
27. Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively with suppliers, third-party auditors and regulatory bodies
28. Commercial awareness and the ability to balance regulatory compliance with operational efficiency and business needs
29. Proactive approach to identifying upcoming regulatory changes and implementing solutions to ensure ongoing compliance
