Inclusion Support Assistant
Location: Birmingham, Secondary Schools
Start date: ASAP/ Start Date
Pay Rate: £95-£100 (dependent on experience)
About the role: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Inclusion Support Teaching Assistant to work within schools across Birmingham. This role involves supporting pupils with additional needs, including Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping to ensure they can access learning in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment. You will work closely with teaching staff and SENCOs to provide tailored support, promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil engagement and progress.
Responsibilities
* Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs
* Assist the class teacher in delivering adapted lessons to meet individual learning needs
* Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural development
* Implement strategies to promote inclusion and positive behaviour within the classroom
* Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
* Monitor and report on pupil progress to teaching staff
* Support pupils with personal care where required
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
Key Requirements
* Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or SEND setting
* Understanding of Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD and SEMH (desirable)
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* A patient, empathetic and proactive approach
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
* A valid enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
* Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential
