A leading independent planning consultancy is seeking a Senior Town Planner to join their growing team in Chester. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional to work on a diverse range of projects across the UK, supporting senior staff and directors on major developments while managing your own portfolio of work.
Role
Job Title: Senior Town Planner
Location: Chester
You will be responsible for providing high-quality planning advice to clients, preparing and submitting planning applications, drafting reports and statements, and assisting with development plan representations. The role also involves taking ownership of small to medium-sized projects and supporting the successful delivery of larger schemes.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist senior team members and directors in driving forward major projects.
* Manage small to medium-sized planning applications and related tasks.
* Undertake research, site appraisals, and policy analysis.
* Prepare planning appraisals, reports, and applications.
* Liaise with local authorities, consultees, clients, and third parties.
* Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
* Contribute creative and original ideas to support project success.
* Take financial and project responsibility from inception to completion.
* Keep up to date with changes in planning policy and best practice.
* Represent the company at external meetings and events where required.
About You
* Degree qualified in a relevant field, ideally with MRTPI accreditation or working towards it.
* 5:10 years experience in a planning role within consultancy or local authority.
* Strong understanding of planning policy and development management processes.
* Excellent communication and report:writing skills.
* Confident in client-facing situations with strong presentation ability.
* Proactive, creative, and solutions:focused approach to problem:solving.
