Brightpoint invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Midlothian Library Associate. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Midlothian Campus Library, with a strong emphasis on creating a welcoming environment for the community. Reporting directly to the Director of Library Services, the Library Associate will manage and coordinate user-facing services at the Midlothian campus, including staffing and supervising the information desk, facilitating the circulation of library materials, and ensuring public access to the library’s collections.
As a key leader in the library’s public services, the Library Associate will provide circulation support, assist with technology-related inquiries, manage information desk staffing, and engage extensively one-on-one with students and faculty both in person and online. The role includes coordinating the circulation and maintenance of library collections, recruiting and training student assistants, and contributing to the training of other team members. Additionally, the Library Associate will gather data on library usage, update relevant documentation, and offer recommendations to enhance library services in support of student success. Collaboration with the library director and librarians to plan, implement, and promote library programs, engagement activities, and instructional workshops is also a vital component of this position.
The Library Associate will support general college activities as needed. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evenings or weekends required. Minimum Qualifications:
Experience working with the general public in a library, archive, bookstore or museum. Strong commitment to excellent customer service to a diverse college population. Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively, efficiently and independently in a highly technological and team-oriented environment, with minimal supervision. Excellent Microsoft Office skills. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check.Additional Considerations:
Community college experience. Experience in academic libraries and with automated library systems such as Alma, OCLC, LibGuides and remote work applications.
