Job overview
Opportunity to join the Radiology Consultant team to add to the MSK and Urology specialties to enable additional interventional provision. Including Ultrasound and fluoroscopic guided MSK injections and Urological investigations.
The appointee should possess the FRCR or its equivalent, and have spent at least 5 years in accredited training in Radiology, and will be on the Specialist Register of the GMC or eligible for inclusion within six months of the date of interview.
The post is offered on whole time or a part-time basis. Candidates who for personal reasons can only work part-time will be considered.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will share an office and secretarial support will be provided. Currently all Consultants use the digital dictation reporting facility on the PACs workstations. Home work solutions will be available and flexible working arrangements are also considered when job planning.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Trust has a positive attitude towards and encourages participation of its consultants in continuing professional development, to which the Trust provides time and funding. The appointee is expected to participate in CPD and fulfil College requirements.
Teaching
The hospital undertakes clinical teaching of medical undergraduates from Manchester and students may visit the Trust / Department on an ad hoc basis. This has helped to establish and maintain close links with the Medical School.
The successful candidate will be expected to offer teaching to junior doctors, medical students and other health professionals within the Trust.
The Integrated Education Centre has greatly enhanced the postgraduate education facilities. Many lunch time meetings are held at present, in which the appointee would be expected to take a full and active part.
Quality and Audit
There is an active audit department in the Trust with quarterly intradepartmental meetings. The appointee is expected to contribute to these activities.
Research
The successful candidate ideally should have an interest in research and be prepared to play a role in developing and contributing to R & D initiatives within the Department. For major projects it would be of benefit to seek funds from outside sources and it should be noted that a Research and Development fund exists within the Trust and that a Research and Development Co-ordinator and Committee, chaired by a Consultant Epidemiologist, exists to help those with a research interest

If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary. In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
