Main Purpose
To maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized environment across all Orthene Chemicals Ltd facilities, ensuring hygiene, presentation, and operational readiness in offices, kitchens, toilets, warehouses, and shared spaces. The role supports health, safety, and compliance through proactive cleaning, upkeep, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform daily cleaning and sanitising of offices, kitchens, toilets, boardrooms, and warehouse areas.
· Operate cleaning machinery and oversee dishwasher use.
· Maintain coffee machines and ensure full functionality.
· Oversee consumables stocks and distribution.
· Conduct weekly fire alarm checks and maintain first aid and spill kits.
· Carry out external cleaning (litter picking, jet washing, window/gutter cleaning).
· Perform safety checks on critical equipment (e.g., shutter doors, HVAC).
· Replace light bulbs and report faults promptly.
· Support company lunches, snack provision, and preparation for visitors.
· Oversee site security including car park arrangements, key and locker management.
· Unlocking/locking of the site.
· Maintain noticeboards and support pest control and weedkilling.
· Support bund/tank cleaning and spill response activities.
· Conduct 5S audits and contribute to continuous improvement.
Objectives/Deliverables:
· Maintain all shared areas (offices, canteens, toilets, meeting rooms, warehouse) in a clean, hygienic, orderly and safe condition.
· Ensure canteens and toilets are stocked daily with necessary consumables (soap, paper towels, toilet rolls, etc.).
· Identify and report any maintenance, safety, or hygiene issues promptly.
Expected Outcomes
· All internal and external areas are consistently clean, safe, presentable and in a state of operational readiness.
· Consumables are restocked; coffee machines and dishwashers are maintained.
· Critical business equipment (Fire alarms, first aid kits, spill kits, shutter doors, HVAC) are checked on schedule and issues resolved promptly.
· Cleaning machinery is operated safely; minor maintenance tasks (e.g. light bulbs) are completed or escalated appropriately.
· External surfaces (windows, gutters, car park) are kept tidy through litter picking, jet washing, and weed/pest control.
· Facilities are prepared for staff and visitors, including lunch setup, noticeboards, locker/key management, and 5S audits.
· Hygiene, safety, and presentation standards are upheld with minimal complaints or disruptions.

Experience:
Essential:
* Basic level of education (literacy and numeracy skills sufficient for following instructions, safety labels, and checklists).
* Ability to understand and follow Health & Safety guidance.
Training / Certifications (can be provided in role):
* COSHH Awareness (IHASCO or equivalent),
* Manual Handling,
* Fire Safety Awareness,
* Infection Prevention & Control.
Desirable (not essential):
* Previous cleaning experience in office, industrial, or chemical environments.
* First Aid or basic health & safety certificates
* DVLA Driving License (to enable operating our Forklift & MEWP equipment).
* Familiarity with using cleaning products, tools, and equipment safely and effectively.
* Familiarity with facilities maintenance tasks
