About the role (External)
Operatives can specialize in various disciplines, but for this role, you'll become a specialist in Rail Testing & Lubrication. Our operatives work outdoors in all conditions, at all times of the year, day or night.
You'll be involved in demanding manual work, often transporting kit across tricky terrain. Being safety-focused, respectful of rules, and a team player is critical, as you'll often work next to moving trains traveling at high speed.

The team depends on you. You're the first to arrive and the last to leave, checking equipment, and driving the team from site to site. You'll support your team in maintaining equipment and providing lookout duties to ensure everyone's safety.

Your commitment to self-development and continuous learning is vital. We will provide training to develop both technical and non-technical skills. If you're transitioning from another industry, this structured training will give you the skills and confidence to build a rewarding career in rail. What will you be doing? You'll help keep our nation moving daily. Your role involves the daily upkeep of the rail network, working outdoors in a small team. Here are some additional details:
* Shifts involve changing patterns, including days, nights, and weekends.
* Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
* Employment is subject to drug and alcohol testing, medical assessments, and BPSS checks, including hearing and eyesight exams.
* A valid driving license (category B) is required to drive Network Rail vehicles.
* Applicants should be within a 60-minute commute of the location.
