Job Overview The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic team of Consultant Dermatologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Trainees, Clinical Fellows and GP specialists. The Royal Free London skin cancer service includes a joint cross-site MDT, dedicated decision‑to‑treat Results Clinics, a thriving Mohs and reconstructive surgery service and a Renal Transplant clinic. The service also hosts the specialist skin cancer MDT for North Central London.
Post holders will participate in ward rounds and/or be on call at Royal Free Hospital/Barnet Hospital according to service needs, which may include weekends.
Main Duties of the Job The role provides opportunities to work within specialist services such as a busy psoriasis department, psychodermatology, eczema, paediatrics, connective tissue disease, hair and nail, acne and complex medical.
Post holders will have SPA time to attend local departmental meetings, contribute to audit, governance and service improvement structures, and attend monthly dermatology meetings at the Royal Society of Medicine and St Johns Dermatology Society. There is also opportunity to network with other trusts through the North Central London Dermatology Network.
Person Specification Education & Professional Qualification
On the dermatology specialist registry (CCT or CESR registration) or proposed CCT date within 3 months of interview, or has applied for CESR
Full registration with GMC (MRCP (UK) or equivalent qualification)
MD
PhD Degree (where relevant)
Experience
In‑depth knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers
Good knowledge of internal medicine
Good knowledge of general dermatology
Experience managing complex skin cancer patients to run 2‑week‑wait skin cancer clinics and manage follow‑ups
Experience of cross‑site working
Melanoma Research Fellowship (preferred)
Publications in peer‑reviewed dermatological journals

Surgical Skills and Aptitudes
Diagnosis and management of skin cancer, including pigmented lesions and Rapid Access skin cancer clinics, with mandatory use of dermatoscope
Diagnosis and management of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, immunobullous and connective tissue diseases
Skilled in skin surgery at the level of standard practice
Perform dermatological surgery including diagnostic biopsies and standard surgical excision with primary layered closure
