We are currently recruiting on behalf of a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Blackburn, looking to appoint an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time, long-term role with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. The successful applicant will support students with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.
Responsibilities
* Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN
* Assisting pupils with classroom engagement, social interaction, and emotional regulation
* Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to implement individual learning plans
* Supporting the wider school community to maintain an inclusive and safe learning environment
* Contributing to progress reviews and liaising with external professionals when required
Requirements / Qualifications
* A recognised qualification in supporting teaching and learning (minimum Level 2 required)
* Level 3 or HLTA qualifications are welcomed
* Proven experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, preferably in a secondary school setting
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
* Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations
* Committed, reliable, and confident working as part of a wider support team
