We are seeking an Associate Director of Pharmacy Acute and Specialist Services to join our dynamic and change-orientated Pharmacy Leadership Team. This is a pivotal role offering strategic, clinical, and professional leadership across Borders General Hospital and Community Hospitals, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred pharmaceutical care.
About the Role
As Associate Director, you will:
1. Lead the acute and specialist pharmacy services, ensuring compliance with legal, professional, and quality assurance standards.
2. Drive innovation and continuous improvement in pharmaceutical care across hospital and community settings.
3. Provide expert advice to the Director of Pharmacy, Executive Management Team, and Senior Clinical Leaders.
4. Champion medicines governance, clinical effectiveness, and safe prescribing practices.
5. Manage a dedicated team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional development.
6. Contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and service redesign aligned with national and local healthcare priorities.

You will be:
7. A registered pharmacist with substantial post-qualification experience in hospital pharmacy, including senior management roles.
8. A confident leader with excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
9. Experienced in managing budgets, developing policy, and leading clinical governance initiatives.
10. Passionate about education, research, and the advancement of pharmacy practice.
11. Able to work autonomously and collaboratively, making informed decisions in complex and high-pressure environments.
