Sexual Offences Examiner/Experienced Forensic Physician - Cumbria
Location: The Bridgeway, 2 Tynefield Drive, Penrith, CA11 8JA, United Kingdom
Role Overview: This part-time role (24 hours/week) primarily involves paediatric cases, with training in adult services. Travel is required, especially in the first 6 months for training in Leeds. The rota is flexible, with working hours from 9:30 to 15:30 on Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri, including occasional on-call, evenings, and weekend training.
About the Position: Join a pioneering service within Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) as a Forensic Medical Examiner. You will receive clinical placements, blended learning, mentorship, and personalized education programs, including financial support during training.

Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct forensic examinations and collect exhibits
* Develop forensic strategies per FFLM guidelines
* Collaborate with external MDTs and Police
* Act as a liaison for referral pathways with Police and Social Services
* Perform holistic assessments including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding
* Support quality improvement initiatives
* Work in accordance with Forensic Science Regulator standards
* Obtain consent for medical and forensic procedures
Travel for training is required; expenses are reimbursed according to policy.
Minimum Qualifications:
* GMC-registered Doctor with at least 3 years post-Foundation experience
* Knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality, and sexual health
* Experience in Paediatrics, GP, or Obs/Gynae preferred
* Female applicants only, due to occupational requirements
* UK driving license and access to a vehicle
* Enhanced DBS and police vetting, 3 years UK residency
* Medical indemnity coverage from start date
* Diploma in Legal Medicine and membership of the Faculty for Forensic and Legal Medicine
* Experience in SARC or custodial environments advantageous
