The P&E part of the business sits in the Operations part and offers a wide range of opportunities to develop skills across a portfolio of onshore projects in different sectors. Our current portfolio includes green hydrogen and fuel switching, as well as supporting local clients with energy transition. We also work on UK refineries, petrochemical facilities, fine chemicals and pharmaceutical facilities, and design pilot plants to test new technologies with the aim of partnering to build full‑scale commercial facilities.

The Role
* Lead cost, planning, scheduling and risk assessment support to assignments/project teams and clients on moderate‑size and complex projects.
* Oversee the set‑up and operation of all required project controls systems, tools and interfaces for successful management and reporting of project costs, schedule and risks.
* Manage a team of project control resources to deliver project excellence.
* Interface with key stakeholders across the project and wider business.
* Serve as the primary focal point for the Project Manager, client or project team on all matters related to costs, schedules, risks and resource requirements.
* Develop and implement the project control execution plan for moderate‑size projects.
Responsibilities
* Act as the focal point with the client and contractor Project Controllers to ensure accurate cost and progress reporting and alignment with reporting requirements.
* Monitor overall project progress status, achievement, and non‑achievement of major milestones, and analyse and forecast performance.
* Identify and monitor the project critical path, providing early warning of potential slippage.
* Establish communications interfaces essential for the delivery of cost, planning, scheduling and risk deliverables and services.
* Report project status and KPI to management.
* Develop the project Work Breakdown Structure.
* Implement cost and planning control structures aligned with the project Work Breakdown Structure.
* Oversee the project work approval process, including cost code allocation and initial budget set‑up and approvals.
* Control and forecast budgets, assess change requests, and incorporate impacts into budgets and schedules.
* Ensure accuracy and timeliness of S‑curves and histograms produced by the team.
* Deliver and maintain fully resourced, logic‑linked Gantt Charts in preferred planning software.
* Provide analysis of current and future resource needs for the project and programme to the Project Manager.
* Manage and oversee the recovery process following identified slippages or significant float erosion.
* Develop and issue project change orders/variations in accordance with contract/assignment change notifications.
* Promote the project change management system and facilitate assurance activities.
* Chair ongoing internal and client team Project Controls meetings (Cost, Schedule, Progress).
* Prepare proposal schedules and CTR packs.
* Lead cost and schedule risk analysis workshops/sessions with clients.
* Ensure risk is managed and monitored at the project level in line with local standards and processes.
* Ensure accuracy and completeness of all cost, planning and risk deliverables before issue to internal or external customers.
* Set up and maintain project‑specific control tools and systems.
* Manage workload, performance and development of the project controls team, providing feedback and coaching.
* Ensure project control staff are competent to carry out assigned work.
* Review contractual obligations and ensure cost‑control activities comply with agreements and client requirements.
* Capture and implement lessons learned for continuous improvement.
* Motivate the project control team, promote communication and teamwork.

* Typically requires ISCED level 6 (Bachelor’s) degree in a relevant technical or business discipline (or equivalent gained through vocational training and/or industry experience).
* Relevant industry experience in project control positions, with significant experience supervising and managing others.
* Significant experience and capability in contract, budgeting, cost control, planning, scheduling and change management.
* Knowledgeable across engineering, procurement and construction execution.
* Understanding of Project Controls department tools and systems.
* Business insight: embraces Wood’s strategic purpose and goals and translates these into practical concepts relevant to project execution.
* Builds knowledge networks: creates and maintains a global network of subject‑matter experts inside and outside the team and Wood.
