The GeneralPractice Support Unit (GPSU) supports GP practices across Somerset to thrive.We are looking for a creative and proactive Communications and EngagementOfficer to help shape and deliver our communications across digital andtraditional channels.

You will manageour digital presence, create engaging written and visual content, and supportcampaigns that raise awareness of GPSUs work with practices, partners andstakeholders. The role includes managing websites and social media, producingdigital content, supporting events, and using analytics to improve performance.

This hybridrole requires a minimum of two days per week in our Yeovil office.

Werelooking for someone with:

Experience managing websites,social media and digital platforms

Excellent writing skills and theability to translate complex information clearly

Strong planning and organisationalskills

A creative, proactive andcollaborative approach

Experience inNHS or public sector communications is desirable but not essential.


Main duties of the job

Main Duties

Develop and deliver communications and engagementcampaigns aligned with GPSUs mission, objectives and priorities.

Create high quality written and visual content for a range of channels,including websites, newsletters, social media, digital platforms and presscommunications.

Produce visual content through filming, photography and basic editing tosupport digital communications.

Manage, maintain and develop GPSUs digital presence, including websitecontent and social media accounts.

Plan, schedule and publish digital and social media content, monitoringengagement and performance.

Support digital marketing activity, including paid social media campaignswhere appropriate.

Ensure all communications adhere to agreed brand guidelines, tone of voiceand visual identity.

Work with colleagues to translate complex information into clear, engagingand accessible content.

Support internal communications, leadership briefings and changecommunications.

Build positive working relationships with GP practices, system partners andother stakeholders.

Support media activity, including drafting press releases, statements andreactive responses.

Organise and support stakeholder events, webinars and engagement activities(virtual and in person).

Monitor and report on digital performance, using analytics and insight toinform and improve content and campaigns.

Ensure all communications comply with accessibility requirements, inclusivityprinciples and data protection regulations.

Job responsibilities

The GPSU provides strategic and operational support togeneral practice in Somerset. The Communications and Engagement Officer willplay a key role in shaping, delivering and managing GPSUs communicationsacross digital and traditional channels.

The role has a strong digital focus and will suit aconfident communicator with experience managing websites, social media andother digital platforms, alongside strong content creation skills. Thepostholder will be responsible for producing engaging, accessible and onbrandcontent that raises awareness of GPSUs work and supports engagement withpractices, partners and stakeholders.

This is a hybrid role. The postholder will be required towork on site at the GPSU office in Yeovil for a minimum of two days per week.

Identify potential reputational risks and escalate where appropriate.

Keep up to date with best practice in NHS, public sector and digitalcommunications.

Travel within Somerset as required to support engagementwith practices and partners.

Flexible working, including occasional evenings or events outside normalworking hours.

Knowledge and Skills

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong digital communication and content creation skills.
* Experience managing digital platforms, including social media and websites.
* Knowledge of website content management systems (CMS).
* Understanding of visual design principles and brand guidelines.
* Ability to create basic visual, video and photography content for digital channels.

Qualifications

* Degree or equivalent experience in communications, digital marketing, PR or a related field
