The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Piping Designer to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Principal Engineer, this role involves producing coordinated 3D designs for wet wells, pump chambers, and associated ductile iron pipework, with a strong emphasis on constructability, maintainability, and operational access.
The Role
Contract Type: Ltd Company (subject to IR35 assessment)
Rate: £45–£50 per hour Ltd
Duration: 12 months
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday (Hybrid Working)
Additional Requirement: CSCS card may be required for Ltd company workers
Your duties and responsibilities will be
* Produce accurate 3D models and detailed GA drawings using Revit.
* Develop layouts for wet and dry well pumping stations, concrete pump chambers, ductile iron and epoxy‑coated carbon steel pipework, valves, and pipe support systems.
* Integrate vendor equipment packages into coordinated multidisciplinary models.
* Model platforms, stairs, handrails, and maintenance accessways in line with industry standards.
* Participate in Access, Lifting and Maintenance (ALM) design reviews.
* Collaborate with civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical teams to deliver fully coordinated, clash‑free designs.
* Maintain drawing registers and ensure documentation meets required standards.
You will have the following qualifications & experience
* HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Proven experience as a Piping Designer within the water industry or similar infrastructure sectors.
* Strong proficiency in Revit, including piping and basic structural layout design.
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Navisworks.
* Experience with wet/dry well pumping stations and ductile iron/epoxy‑coated carbon steel pipework.
* Understanding of pipe supports, plant layout, and operational access requirements.
* Experience integrating vendor packages into plant layouts.
* Familiarity with relevant piping standards, codes, and health & safety requirements.
* Ability to interpret P&IDs and equipment datasheets.
* Strong communication and coordination skills.
