Business Manager to the Chief People Officer (CPO)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Business Manager to support the Chief People Officer at London Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
This is a pivotal senior management role at the heart of the People and Culture directorate. You will operate with a high level of autonomy and discretion, ensuring the effective management of the Chief People Officer's business, priorities, and strategic agenda.
You will play a key role in coordinating the delivery of organisational objectives, leading programmes of work, and ensuring that the directorate operates efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced and complex environment.
Main duties of the job
* Manage the day-to-day business of the Chief People Officer, ensuring priorities and objectives are clearly articulated and delivered.
* Lead and oversee strategic programmes and projects to support delivery of directorate and Trust-wide objectives.
* Provide high-quality briefings, reports, and presentations to support decision-making at executive and Board level.
* Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, building strong partnerships across the Trust and beyond.
* Coordinate performance management arrangements and ensure delivery against plans, targets, and key priorities.
* Support the Chief People Officer with Board business, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions.
* Provide oversight of budgets and financial performance across the directorate.
* Horizon scan national policy and external developments, advising on implications for the Trust.
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent experience (essential)
Experience
* Significant senior management experience, including working at a strategic level in complex organisations
* Proven track record of leading programmes and delivering organisational change
* Experience of supporting decision-making in complex and fast-paced environments
* Experience of engaging and influencing senior stakeholders
Skills and Knowledge
* Ability to analyse complex information and provide clear, actionable insight
* Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present to senior audiences
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
* Knowledge of People/HR functions and organisational strategy within the NHS or similar environment
* Develop policies and procedures for necessary service development to support national and organisational initiatives
* Demonstrable ability to employ the full range of leadership and managerial skills to support both individuals and teams, including ability to motivate staff in a challenging environment
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present in public or present complex or contentious information to large groups including staff, Unions, members of the public, Executive Managers, etc.
* Demonstrable knowledge of the work of a HR / People and Culture Team with ability to transfer this knowledge into practice within this scope of this role
