Responsibilities
* Provide acute assessment, diagnosis and treatment for medical patients presenting at the front door of Glangwili General Hospital, including the Emergency Department, Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC).
* Provide effective clinical leadership to multidisciplinary teams working across CDU, SDEC and the Emergency Department.
* Work closely with GP colleagues and other medical teams to ensure coordinated and appropriate patient care across hospital and community settings.
* Deliver timely assessment and treatment for patients presenting with acute medical conditions.
* Promote close and effective working between A&E, SDEC and CDU to support patient flow and safety.
* Provide consultant‑level clinical supervision of medical patients managed within SDEC and the Emergency Department.
* Work collaboratively with consultant colleagues across medicine to develop seamless and efficient pathways of care.
* Contribute to the development of “hot clinics” as an alternative to hospital admission where suitable.
* Maintain strong liaison with primary care colleagues to ensure patients are directed to the most appropriate services.
* Support the development, education and ongoing practice of nurse consultants and advanced nurse practitioners.
* Provide training, supervision and professional support for junior doctors.
