Assistant Head of Department Construction (Multi-Skills & Trowel Trades)£46,407 per annumLocation: CambridgeSector: Further Education (FE)Full time - PermanentAbout the Role A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated FE professional to step into a key leadership position as Assistant Head of Department within a Construction and Building Services curriculum area.This role will support the Head of Department in leading a dynamic provision across Multi-Skills, Property Maintenance Operations, and Bricklaying, delivered across two campuses. Youll play a central role in shaping curriculum delivery, enhancing teaching quality, and driving positive learner outcomes.This is a varied, hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced educational environment and is passionate about staff development and student success.Key Responsibilities Support the Head of Department in the leadership and development of curriculum, staff, and resourcesDrive high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment across the provisionMonitor and track performance data to ensure strong learner outcomesInspire and support staff development, performance, and engagementContribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and quality enhancementEnsure compliance with relevant Health & Safety standardsHelp create an inclusive, high-performing learning environment across both campusesAbout You We are looking for an inspiring leader with strong FE experience who can bring energy, structure, and direction to a busy curriculum area.You will have:Significant teaching experience within Further EducationA strong understanding of teaching, learning, and assessment in FEA recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, DET/DTLLS)Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and Health & Safety requirementsExcellent communication, leadership, and organisational skillsExperience of supporting or leading teams (desirable but not essential)A construction trade background is not essential strong FE leadership and teaching expertise is the priority.Whats on Offer Salary: £46,407 per annumGenerous annual leave entitlement (42 days plus bank holidays, pro rata where applicable)Local Government Pension SchemeFree on-site parking across both campusesOn-site cafés, restaurants, and retail outletsHealth cash plan and occupational health supportDiscounted gym membership and wellbeing initiativesStaff development and progression opportunitiesEmployee assistance programme and wellbeing support servicesDiscounts on retail, travel, Apple products, and college coursesAdditional Information This organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners.
