Band 7 Clinical Team Lead Physiotherapist
Respiratory Medicine

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, proactive and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join and lead the Respiratory Medicine Physiotherapy Team at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
The post holder will be the Clinical Team Lead Physiotherapist for Respiratory Medicine, with responsibility for delivering and developing physiotherapy services across a 46-bedded inpatient ward and the respiratory outpatient service. This includes chest clearance and breathing retraining for patients with complex acute and chronic respiratory conditions. You will clinically lead and further develop the Respiratory Medicine Physiotherapy service, ensuring high-quality, patient-centred care.
Candidates must demonstrate extensive clinical experience within respiratory medicine and across acute inpatient and outpatient settings. You will be expected to evidence excellent clinical reasoning skills in the management of both acutely unwell patients and those with long-term respiratory conditions, alongside advanced skills in prioritisation, discharge planning and caseload management. Experience in managing outpatient waiting lists is desirable.
Strong leadership and organisational skills are essential as the post holder will provide day-to-day leadership and management for a team of Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Support Workers. Experience of supervision, mentorship, appraisal of staff and students, and effective multidisciplinary team working is expected.
As part of the wider physiotherapy service, you will work collaboratively with an established group of Band 7 Clinical Team Lead Physiotherapists across the hospital, contributing to organisational and professional initiatives as required and delegated by the Head of Service. This collaboration ensures an equitable and consistent service delivery across the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
The post holder will participate in the emergency duty weekend working rota, operating on a 5-day out-of-7 basis, and will also contribute to the overnight on-call rota. You will work closely with members of the multidisciplinary team and actively engage in quality improvement work, service development and ongoing clinical improvement within the unit.
