Grid Connections Engineer Renewable Energy

SCINERGY Recruitment are recruiting for a Grid Connections Engineer to join a leading UK renewable energy generator operating Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Projects (BESS) and captured methane.
This role is responsible for managing grid connection activities across a portfolio of operational assets and new-build renewable projects throughout the UK. The successful candidate will work closely with Development, Construction and Asset Management teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly and in line with programme and budget expectations.
The role will involve:
Overseeing grid connections from feasibility through to energisation
Acting as technical lead with DNOs, NESO, ICPs, EPCs and suppliers
Managing grid applications and negotiating connection offers
Assessing network constraints, risks and reinforcement requirements
Reviewing electrical designs (SLDs, protection, metering and control systems)
Ensuring compliance with UK Grid and Distribution Codes (including G99/G100)
Supporting commissioning, testing and operational handover
Providing HV input for new connections and network upgrades
Supporting early-stage solar and BESS development and due diligence
Evaluating connection costs, timelines and technical viability
Upholding strong H&S standards in line with CDM, RAMS and safe systems of work
Reporting progress and maintaining accurate technical documentation
Building collaborative relationships with internal teams and network operators
To be considered for this role, you should have:
A degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering, General Engineering or Power Engineering
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) qualification
Experience delivering grid-connected power or renewable energy projects
Strong understanding of UK grid compliance frameworks and ENA standards
Knowledge of HV systems, protection coordination and commissioning processes
Experience applying UK Health & Safety legislation within engineering or construction environments
Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally
