This is an exciting opportunity to join the Housing Need Service in West Lothian Council as part of the new Temporary Accommodation Team. This entry-level role offers a chance to gain experience in the housing sector, working with skilled staff dealing with homeless prevention, housing provision, and support. Many staff who start at this level progress into promoted roles as they develop their skills and experience within the Housing Need service.
The assistant role is vital for the provision and management of temporary accommodation for those in housing need. The goal is to prevent homelessness, support those in greatest need, achieve positive outcomes for customers, and ultimately secure permanent homes.
The post holder will be part of the Temporary Accommodation team, responsible for delivering accommodation services to homeless applicants seeking temporary housing and providing housing management to those in temporary and emergency accommodation. Responsibilities include handling bookings for B&B placements, property storage, and collaborating with the housing options team, suppliers, and council partners.
As an Accommodation Assistant, you will support our accommodation officers in delivering housing management services. You will be expected to provide a high-quality, customer-focused service in accordance with housing and homeless legislation and meet operational performance targets.
The post holder is often the first point of contact in a busy team within the fast-paced Housing Need Service and will help maintain positive relationships with colleagues and accommodation providers.
