Technical Business Analyst
Are you an experienced Business Analyst ready to make an impact?
Join our Group Technology team at Connells Group as a Business Analyst, where you’ll work closely with engineers and business stakeholders to understand day‑to‑day processes, analyse operational needs, and translate requirements into clear Business Requirement Specifications or User Stories. The CPE team is responsible for maintaining and supporting key business systems, as well as managing incidents through ServiceNow, coordinating regular software releases, and addressing technical debt.
We offer a hybrid working arrangement, with two days per week in our Milton Keynes office.
Key responsibilities:
1. Elicit and capture business requirements
2. Produce clear, concise business requirements documents and user stories
3. Proactively work with senior business managers to understand their business processes and needs
4. Foster a culture of creating excellent working relationships with staff at all levels
5. Work closely with Lead Engineers and Architects to ensure that requirements are addressed within technical specifications
6. Translate current state (legacy) processes and system behaviours into target state designs aligned to the Connells X platform (Azure)
7. Continually communicate to clients on project progression and clarification of requirements
8. Provide application support as required
9. Receive and collate all feedback and change requests from the business
10. Represent the Business Analysis team at business meetings including making presentations
11. Support the project management of changes into the production environment
12. Document application and data flows, including key integrations, data transformations and dependencies
13. Use strong SQL and database analysis skills to understand existing data structures, perform data profiling and support migration planning
14. Provide application support as required, including investigation of issues using SQL and system logs where appropriate
15. Mapping and documenting interfaces between legacy and new systems
Experience & Skills Required:
Essential
16. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex systems and data flows
17. Strong SQL and understanding of DB and Cloud services
18. Strong understanding of modern environments and concepts including (Azure Paas Concepts, APIs and Microservices)
19. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
20. Ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels
21. Experience working in Agile/Scrum
Desirable
22. BSC Diploma in Business Analysis (ISEB)
23. Proficient in using Diagramming tools (Visio/Draw.io/Miro)
24. Experience in migrating to Cloud platforms (Azure)
25. Awareness of CI/CD pipelines, git based workflows and concepts such as Infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform)
26. Experience migrating legacy applications or data to modern platforms or cloud environments
