Quality Engineer – 6 Month FTC Location: Glenrothes Working Pattern: On-site, 4-day week (37 hours) Security Clearance: BPSS An opportunity has opened for a Quality Engineer to join a defence engineering business on a 6-month fixed-term contract, supporting complex and high-profile programmes. Based at the Glenrothes site, this is a hands-on role focused on First Article Inspections (FAIRs), audit activity, and driving quality assurance across manufacturing operations. The position sits within an established team, providing essential support to meet programme and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include: * Perform First Article Inspections (FAIRs), preferably to AS9102 standards * Investigate defects, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions * Maintain quality records using QPulse * Monitor and report programme quality status * Conduct product, process, and release audits * Support internal and external quality audits (AS9100, ISO 9001) * Ensure contractual and regulatory compliance * Support other Quality Engineers during periods of leave or absence * Close out non-conformances, customer complaints, and audit findings Essential experience: * Practical knowledge of FAIRs (AS9102) and relevant documentation * Understanding of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standards * Quality Engineering background in electronics or mechanical assemblies * Ability to read technical drawings and work with engineering teams * Strong communicator, confident in working across departments and with customers * Proactive and independent, with a willingness to challenge and improve processes Desirable: * Experience in aerospace and/or defence * Familiarity with internal audits and external audit support * Degree or equivalent practical experience This is a contract role with a clear scope, a supportive team, and the benefit of a 4-day working week
