Navantia UK are seeking a highly skilled and experienced International Tax Manager to join our Tax team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice in UK & NI tax laws and regulations with additional knowledge on international tax matters, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations, and developing strategies to optimize our global tax position. This role requires a deep understanding of local tax laws and the ability to navigate complex tax issues with ease.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex tax concepts in a clear and concise manner. They will be proactive, adaptable, and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
This position incardinates in the HQ Tax Team reporting directly to the Global Tax Director, who oversees the overall tax strategy and compliance for Navantia Group across the various jurisdictions in which the Group operates. This role will involve regular interactions and updates with the Global Tax Director to ensure alignment with the Group’s company tax objectives and strategies, assisting in strategic decision-making processes. This position will collaborate closely with the other members of the HQ Tax Team (Customs, International and Spanish taxation managers) and the UK local finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Tax Planning and Advisory: Develop and implement tax-efficient structures and strategies for UK & NI transactions and business operations from a direct (Corporate Income tax) and indirect tax perspective (Value Added tax and custom processes).
* Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local (UK & NI) and international tax regulations impacting the company, including the preparation and/or review of tax returns and related filings.
* Risk Management: Identify and mitigate tax risks associated with UK & NI and international operations impacting the company and provide guidance on tax risk management practices.
* Transfer Pricing: Develop and maintain UK transfer pricing policies, conduct and/or review benchmarking studies, and prepare and/or review transfer pricing documentation.
* Tax Audits and Disputes: Represent the company in tax audits, disputes, and negotiations with tax authorities.
* Custom processes and management: The customs management process integrates key activities of various departments and external providers into a transversal workflow in order to ensure efficient synchronization of customs activities and optimal quality of data in a timely manner. The process includes overseeing mechanisms for tracking and reporting, facilitating the identification and communication of data necessary for declarations, as well as the detection of issues and opportunities for improvement.
* Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on UK & NI tax issues, monitor changes in tax legislation, and analyse their impact on the company.
* Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, business units, and external tax providers to provide tax advice and support on various projects.
* Development: stay updated on the latest developments in UK & NI tax laws and practices and international legislation impacting the company.
Qualifications:
* Education: A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Law or a related field. A master’s degree in taxation or a related field is preferred.
* Experience: A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in UK & NI taxes and/or international tax advisory, with a strong background in tax planning, compliance, and indirect taxes.
* Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of UK & NI tax laws and international tax laws, regulations, and treaties. Experience with transfer pricing and cross-border transactions is essential and customs and indirect taxes experience is highly valuable.
* Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Software: Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office applications.
* Languages: Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Spanish will be a plus.
