Senior ServiceNow Platform Architect – Enterprise Transformation
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior ServiceNow Platform Architect to lead the strategic redesign and modernisation of an enterprise-scale ServiceNow platform. This role will define and govern the target-state architecture across core ServiceNow capabilities while driving adoption of out-of-the-box (OOTB) functionality, Common Service Data Model (CSDM) standards, and scalable platform governance.
The successful candidate will partner with business stakeholders, platform owners, delivery teams, and third-party vendors to establish a sustainable, secure, and highly governed ServiceNow ecosystem within a complex enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Architecture & Strategy
* Define and own the enterprise ServiceNow architecture roadmap across ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, Service Catalog, Knowledge Management, Asset Management, and integrations
* Establish scalable architectural principles aligned to ServiceNow best practices, platform upgrades, and long-term maintainability
* Lead platform transformation initiatives including greenfield implementations, platform consolidations, or major re-implementation programmes
* Provide technical leadership across solution design, environment strategy, release management, and platform governance
CMDB & CSDM Governance
* Design and govern enterprise CMDB architecture aligned to CSDM standards
* Define Discovery, Service Mapping, and Service Graph strategies to improve operational visibility and data accuracy
* Drive CMDB health initiatives including reconciliation, normalization, lifecycle governance, and data quality management
* Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and operations teams to ensure accurate configuration data ownership and stewardship
* Review and rationalise legacy customisations, technical debt, and unsupported configurations
* Promote OOTB capabilities, low-code/no-code solutions, and reusable platform components
* Re-engineer workflows using Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, Automation Engine, and platform-native capabilities
* Define architectural guardrails to minimise unnecessary scripting and custom development
* Architect secure and scalable integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, IntegrationHub spokes, MID Servers, and Service Graph Connectors
* Define enterprise integration patterns and governance standards
* Support event-driven automation and orchestration initiatives across operational tooling ecosystems
* Ensure integration solutions comply with security, audit, and regulatory requirements
Governance & Stakeholder Leadership
* Chair or contribute to Design Authority, Architecture Review Boards, and technical governance forums
* Review and approve solution designs, technical deviations, and exception requests
* Mentor developers, technical consultants, and platform administrators
* Work closely with programme leadership to manage delivery risks, dependencies, and platform roadmap priorities
Required Experience & Skills
* 15+ years of overall IT experience with at least 7+ years focused on ServiceNow architecture and enterprise platform leadership
* Strong experience delivering enterprise-scale ServiceNow transformation, greenfield, or re-platforming programmes
* Deep expertise across:
* ITSM
* ITOM (Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management)
* CMDB & CSDM
* IntegrationHub and Flow Designer
* Strong understanding of ServiceNow platform governance, security, scalability, and upgrade management
* Experience working in regulated or highly governed enterprise environments
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to influence senior leadership
* Strong knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and enterprise architecture practices
Preferred Qualifications & Certifications
Preferred certifications include:
* ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
* ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – ITSM
* ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – ITOM
* ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
* ITIL 4 Foundation
* Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
* Exposure to SecOps, HRSD, SPM, or Governance Risk & Compliance modules
* Experience establishing enterprise platform operating models and Centre of Excellence functions
* Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing within ServiceNow
