Overview
The Same Day Emergency Care unit at St Mary’s Hospital is looking for motivated and enthusiastic sisters/charge nurses to join the team. You need to be passionate about providing high quality, emergency same day care in this fast paced, evolving and exciting area of acute emergency care. You must have excellent communication skills and be excited about being part of an innovative nursing team.
This post consists of a mixture of long days (0800-2030) and long day B shifts (0930-2200) and includes weekends, but no nights. You will be supported by a deputy matron and matron.
Responsibilities
* Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision
* Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based individualised patient care
* Assist and advise staff, both registered and unregistered in the delivery of patient care
* Maintain accurate clinical observations of the patient and act accordingly
* Undertake nursing procedures
* Have responsibility for the correct administration and custody of medicines according to Trust policy
* Monitor patients’ progress, work towards safe and timely discharge plans and ensure barriers to discharge are identified and acted on appropriately
* Act as the patient’s advocate
