Salary: Up to £60,000 (+on call options)
Hours: 40 per week
About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to take ownership of our on‑premises and cloud infrastructure. You'll be responsible for maintaining and improving our core server, storage, networking and identity platforms, while driving stability, security, and efficiency across the environment.
You'll play a key role in shaping the future state of our systems landscape, supporting major projects, and providing senior-level technical guidance across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Lead administration and enhancement of Windows Server, Active Directory and identity services (including Azure AD).
Manage and improve system security, Group Policies, and access controls.
Support virtualisation platforms (VMware) and storage solutions.
Oversee firewalls (Fortinet), Wi‑Fi infrastructure (Cambium), and general network operations.
Deliver 2nd/3rd line support across infrastructure and act as technical escalation point.
Contribute to architecture decisions and strategic infrastructure improvements.
Maintain monitoring, alerting and operational reliability using modern tooling.
Required Skills & Experience
7+ years' experience in IT infrastructure roles.
Strong background in Microsoft technologies: Windows Server, AD, Azure AD, GPOs.
Experience with SCCM/SCOM or equivalent monitoring systems.
Knowledge of VMware vSphere/vCenter.
Preferred Experience
Exposure to Linux or macOS.
Experience with Azure or AWS cloud environments.
Understanding of networking, SAN, and data centre technologies.
PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
Certifications such as ITIL, MCITP, CCNA.
Microsoft 365 administration knowledge.
Experience with Agile delivery environments.
Familiarity with monitoring/SEIM platforms (PRTG, Sumo Logic).
